About KMTA

One region. Many voices. A shared commitment to better tourism.

Karavali Malenadu Tourism Association was formed in 2026 to connect tourism stakeholders across seven districts of coastal Karnataka and the Western Ghats.

Who we are

A regional platform for tourism, hospitality and destination partners.

KMTA brings together people and organisations whose work shapes how visitors discover, understand and experience Karavali and Malenadu. Our membership community is intended to include accommodation providers, travel businesses, attractions, restaurants, transport services, event providers, destination specialists, tourism professionals and allied enterprises.

The region has extraordinary depth: a long Arabian Sea coastline, working ports and cities, temple towns, living food traditions, waterfalls, rivers, coffee landscapes, protected ecosystems, forested routes and distinctive forms of local hospitality. Yet visitors do not experience administrative boundaries; they experience journeys. KMTA exists to help the region think, connect and communicate with that wider journey in mind.

We are building a practical platform for collaboration, one that supports destination visibility, professional relationships, responsible visitor practices, learning and credible engagement with institutions. KMTA does not replace the distinct identities of its seven districts. It creates more space for those identities to be presented together, with clarity and confidence.

What guides us

Six values for the way we work.

Collaboration

We make room for different perspectives and look for shared opportunities across district and sector boundaries.

Stewardship

Tourism depends on healthy landscapes, respected heritage and communities that can continue to call these places home.

Inclusion

We value contributions from enterprises of different scales, professionals with varied expertise and destinations at different stages of growth.

Local Benefit

Stronger visitor economies should widen opportunity for local businesses, workers, creators, producers and experience providers.

Professionalism

We favour credible information, constructive dialogue, clear commitments and dependable follow-through.

Responsible Growth

Growth should respect carrying capacity, visitor safety, culture, biodiversity and the long-term wellbeing of destinations.

How KMTA will work

A regional organisation designed for participation

KMTA was formed in 2026 to provide a common platform for tourism and hospitality stakeholders across the seven districts represented on this website. The organisation’s starting point is simple: individual destinations and enterprises can achieve more when information, professional relationships and regional priorities are developed together.

Members can contribute destination knowledge, operating experience, visitor feedback and market insight. KMTA will use that input to identify shared priorities and connect the right partners to each initiative.

Regional representation also requires balance. Coastal districts and Western Ghats districts have different operating contexts, seasons, access needs and environmental sensitivities. KMTA’s seven-district structure is intended to keep those differences visible while finding common ground in destination promotion, stewardship, skills, enterprise development and professional standards.

Over time, KMTA aims to become a useful point of connection for tourism businesses, knowledge partners, institutions and media seeking a responsible regional perspective. Its credibility will depend on listening carefully, communicating accurately and showing how collaboration creates value for destinations, enterprises, visitors and local communities.

The President, office bearers and Managing Committee provide leadership, supported by members and partners with relevant expertise. KMTA will focus on work that can be delivered, evaluated and improved.

The seven-district map is both a statement of coverage and a reminder to listen locally. Leadership will need to consider coastal and highland perspectives, established enterprises and emerging operators, commercial opportunity and destination stewardship. A regional position becomes credible only when it reflects this range and communicates disagreements or limitations honestly.

That balance will guide future decisions and public reporting.
